The Climb to Conquer Cancer of Phoenix is the American Cancer Society’s largest single-day climb event in the world. Every February in Arizona, thousands of cancer survivors, family members, caregivers and supporters participate in the Climb to Conquer Cancer. U-Haul® is offering 30 days of free self-storage to residents impacted by the tornadoes and flooding affecting much of southern Louisiana, including the New Orleans metro area. Severe weather has brought fierce winds and heavy rains to the region. Humble Design is celebrating this milestone with a special home “deco” and reveal day on Aug. 27.

Non-profit Organizations
This is the first expansion of what the nonprofit and its primary sponsor, U-Haul International, hope will lead to Humble Design chapters on a national scale. The organization has provided furnishings and design services to 733 Michigan families since 2009, turning empty houses into clean, dignified and welcoming homes. On Friday, Humble Design will provide charitable services to its 2,000th client emerging from a homeless shelter. Sam Sharp of Guaranteed Rate is sponsoring the Humble team for this Stuff the Truck event. Bring your gently used household items and furniture.

Other football players also used their red carpet looks to pay homage to their upbringings. The interior of Arnold’s suit jacket garnered equal attention on the red carpet. The lining was sewn with a photo of Arnold as a young football player as well as one of his whole family. On the other side of the jacket, the acronym “LANK” was sewn on the interior. Marchitelli said it stands for “Let All Naysayers Know,” a saying from Arnold’s time playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide. The non-profit organization Humble Design continues to make a difference by disrupting the cycle of homelessness and improving the odds – and lives – of one at-risk family at a time.
I am in the unusual position of loving what I do, but not needing to do it. We don’t have a bottom line, or stockholders. We need to love what we do with all of our hearts and take breaks when we don’t. Is there a special story or family that stands out in your mind? All of the families we help have amazing stories one way or another, but I remember a few that stood out to me because of the families’ untold sacrifices. One woman had three children and her husband died of cancer.

Families take a personal stake in their newly furnished homes, leading to a remarkable success rate – 99 percent to receive Humble Design’s services have escaped the cycle of homelessness. Clients are referred by designated services that work with local shelters.
